PARALLEL is a purpose-driven independent film and television production company dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices and communities. Based in Minneapolis, this joint venture was founded in 2025 by acclaimed filmmaker Conor Champley and renowned journalist Kate Nelson. Their award-winning work has been featured in The New York Times, TIME, and National Geographic and also earned prestigious accolades including Vimeo’s Best Drama of the Year and Film Shortage’s Best Picks of the Year. United by their shared commitment and passion for uncovering complex topics with authenticity and integrity, they are devoted to shining a spotlight on compelling stories that demand to be seen, heard, and felt.

Conor Champley is an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer who explores complex human stories with emotional depth. His films, including A Day Out, Sickboy, and Alzheimer’s, have earned acclaim from Vimeo Festival Awards, Director’s Notes, and Film Shortage. A Minnesota native, combat veteran, and lifelong cinephile, Conor has spent more than a decade honing his craft between Minneapolis and New York City while enjoying his free time at local eateries in pursuit of his next favorite burger.

Kate Nelson is an Alaska Native Tlingit tribal member and an award-winning independent journalist who focuses on amplifying important Indigenous change makers and issues. She has written for top national and international publica­tions including the Guardian, the BBC, ELLE, Esquire, and Vanity Fair, among many others. A lifelong storyteller who grew up in Minnesota, Kate is a former magazine editor-in-chief, a two-time James Beard Foundation Media Award nominee, and an avid equestrian in her free time.
